Client Details

The Surface Science Research Centre (SSRC) was first established as a UK Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IRC) in 1989. Housed within the University of Liverpool, one of the major strengths of the SSRC is its excellent equipment base, constituting over 25 sophisticated spectroscopic and imaging techniques that allow surface events to be mapped at the nanoscale level and down to the femtosecond timescale.

Scope of Work

Works Involved the isolation and removal of existing dehumidification systems previously supplying treated ventilation to critical lab spaces, addition of laboratory sinks and Wash hand basins, and modifications to supply ductwork to facilitate new ceiling finishes.

The project detailed co-ordination with the client, University of Liverpool, the Main Contractor, Integral and other trades, including electrical services and ceilings. Throughout the process, all existing laboratory spaces remained live and occupied, which involved constant collaboration and communication with staff and stakeholders at the University.

Results

The project successfully upgraded mechanical systems and ventilation with minimal disruption to the live lab environment. Close coordination with the University and contractors ensured on-schedule delivery and maintained operational research spaces. The modifications enhanced lab functionality, supporting advanced surface science work.
